Where To Eat in Shekou (And Where Not To!!!)
Please note that any evaluations and ratings given here, unless stated, are from my own personal experiences at the locations and are intended to be a guide only. Just because I had a good or bad meal doesn't mean that you will!!!

I went to this place on the 29th January 2009, with my family and relations who were visiting and I have to say that it was AWFUL!!! And thats bing POLITE! Service was ok (just) but the BBQ food was of EXCEPTIONALLY poor quality and the variety was extremely poor.
Before we went there we enquired with one of the staff if everything that they were advertising on the board outside was available. We were told, "everything that is advertised was available".
Our table was frequently visited with food by the staff, so no complaints there, but we were offered the same CHEAP food over and over and over again. We told them that we had had enough chicken wing and camel, enough sweet pork (as I am told that it was, although it ALL tasted the same!), didn't want anymore eggplant, didn't want sweetcorn and that we wanted some of the beef, lamb steak, beef steak, ribs and lamb leg as advertised. We asked AT LEAST half a dozen times and each time was told "its cooking". At the end of when we had enough of waiting we STILL HAD NOT SEEN ANY of the more expensive types of food that we requested.
There is a side buffet that is more than adequately stocked with fruit, although main course side dishes leave a lot to be desired in their range.
As far as I am concerned this is a COMPLETE CON! They get you in there and only serve you cheap, low quality meat, and fob you off if you ask for anything extra. Basically they LIE from the minute you walk in until you leave.
IF you want value for money and don't want to be RIPPED OFF AND FED A BUNCH OF LIES, then DO NOT GO TO AMAZON BBQ in Shekou!

Situated at the end of "old road" in Shekou, this venue is worth a visit just to sample it's Beijing Duck! The rest of the menu is pretty much standard and although of good quality, is nothing better (or different) than that of many other restaurants in the area. However, the Duck dish alone makes this a very popular place and at times (especially weekend-evenings and holidays etc) you can find that you may have to wait for a table unless you arrive early or later in the evening. Very friendly staff make it even better!

I have been here only once and doubt I will return.
I found the service particularly bad, and the food not much better. The portions were very small and yet highly priced, which could have been excused if it was of a decent quality, which unfortunately it wasn’t.

One of my most favourite places to eat, in and around Shekou. Food tends to be of a more spicy nature (not TOO spicy) and it is very rare to have a disappointing dish here. The atmosphere is pleasant and you are always made to feel welcome. Prices are very reasonable for a good quality meal and definately worth a visit.

I used to go here very regularly as it was superb! Unfortunately it was taken over by a Chinese gentleman and the quality (and quantity) of food, as well as the service, unfortunately dropped dramatically. It may have improved but I have not been back in quite a while, although feedback I have received would indicate if anything it has got worse.
